Sustainability is something we are all responsible for and something we
all get benefitted from. Environmental sustainability can be defined as
'A state in which the demands placed on the environment can be met
without reducing its capacity to allow all people to live well, now and in
the future.' While there are many different ways to be more sustainable,
this article will mainly be focusing on a simple act that definitely brings
a great change.
Have you ever wondered, what it takes for an e-mail to reach you? Did
you ever give a thought about the impact, the e-mails in your inbox have
on the environment? Do you know how much it costs for an e-mail to
reach you?
On an average, an e-mail with an attachment has a carbon footprint of
25-50g CO2e, while an e-mail without an attachment emits 0.4-4g of
CO2e. Now, you may wonder what a carbon footprint is! Well, carbon
footprint is the total emissions of greenhouse gases associated with all
the activities of a person or an entity. It is measured as carbon dioxide
equivalent (CO2e).
This means nearly 65 e-mails produce the carbon footprint which is
equal to that produced from driving a car for 1km.
However, there is something you can do to reduce this CO2e.
No wonder, most of you might receive a number of promotion mails,
newsletters, updates, advertisements, daily reminders lying in your
inboxes which you have not even opened once. You have to simply
unsubscribe and delete such undesirable mails. It is just that easy to
reduce the emissions and bring more positivity to the environment.
WHO WOULD HAVE IMAGINED UNSUBSCRIBING WOULD
SAVE YOUR TIME AND THE PLANET!
Well now that you know a simple way to start your sustainable life,
thank me laterrrr! :PIS YOUR INBOX DESTROYING THE PLANET?
